About the artist
I am Nadine Nayari, an artist based in Cape Town, and the creator of Pure Creation. Through my art, I aim to reflect the purity of nature, honoring the harmony and balance found in the natural world. The South African landscape, with its rich textures, tones, and contrasts, is my muse—a constant source of inspiration that fuels my creative process.
The natural world captivates me, not just for its visual beauty but as a metaphor for life itself. The interplay of light and shadow, the dance between joy and struggle, speaks to the essence of existence—layers of complexity that give life its depth and meaning. This perspective infuses my work and reflects the Wabi-Sabi philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity. It is more than an artistic influence; it is the way I view life and strive to live it—embracing the raw, natural state of things, appreciating the fleeting moments, and finding harmony in the imperfect and the transient.
My creative process mirrors these themes, blending the organic unpredictability of watercolor with the precision of intricate pencil drawings. I embrace the freedom of watercolors, allowing them to flow, merge, and dry in their own way, creating textured, neutral-toned backgrounds that celebrate imperfection. Over these layers, I add controlled pencil sketches, uniting spontaneity with deliberate detail—a balance of chaos and order that reflects the dualities of life.
Through my art, I honor and express the richness of indigenous flora and fauna, weaving these elements into every piece. For me, nature is more than inspiration; it is a sanctuary, a place where I find grounding, clarity, and connection. There is a profound stillness in the wild, a timeless rhythm that offers answers to life’s questions in the rustle of leaves, the flow of water, and the warmth of the sun. My art reflects the peace and authenticity I experience in nature, creating pieces that invite others to pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves and the natural world around them.
